Vessel Traffic Surveys
Anatec have carried out maritime traffic surveys and analysed traffic survey data from over 500 surveys worldwide. We can proudly state that with a well-established record of over 20 years in business, we have carried out far more offshore traffic surveys than any other company.
As well as developing standardised data collection forms, we can interface with a variety of radar and AIS equipment to enable automatic tracking and acquisition of shipping data. Our software and hardware has been deployed across the globe. This has included us carrying out radar and AIS traffic surveys from:
- Shore based coastal sites for near shore developments
- Geotechnical & geophysical survey vessels (Anatec software and hardware piggybacked onto vessel systems)
- Dedicated vessels (large fishing vessels, survey vessels and Emergency Response and Rescue Vessels (ERRVs))
- Drilling Rigs & Offshore Platforms
At Anatec we also have a variety of software tools and databases systems in place to support the management and interpretation of the data to demonstrate the shipping patterns and behaviours in the survey area. The results of these types of studies have helped oil and gas operators manage the risks associated with passing traffic, the government with their decision-making process when assessing consent applications and the coastguard in the evaluation of compliance with routeing measures.
Anatec have developed the ShipRoutes shipping traffic database which is recognised as industry best-practice (e.g., Open Gonverment Partnership (OGP)) and used by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and general lighthouse authorities, as well as accessed by operators in most regions of the world.
